"Art is the music of the soul, journey to the wonderland
where limit does not exist"
~ Iwona Duniec
Iwona is a painter and founder of the fine art and design company, Ideccor. She received a BA in Management & Marketing from The School of Banking and Management in Kraków (2003) and an MA in International Relations from Kraków University of Economics (2006). Born into a family of artists ( her father played acoustic guitar in a band; her mother was a ballerina ), Iwona discovered her love of creative expression at a young age.
While still in Poland, she participated in many art competitions, her favorite being “Sights of Kraków". Since moving to Chicago, she has worked tirelessly to develop her artistic talents. For Iwona, art can be a means of touching others, through colors, light, layers and messages included in each artwork.
In 2013, she auctioned off one of her paintings "The cube" at a fundraiser for Alexandra Blaszczuk ( a young woman suffering paralysis after a car accident ) as well as at a breast cancer fundraiser artwork "Hope".
In 2014, she was a curator at the “Non–GMO Gala” in Chicago—an art and fashion event that aims to raise awareness about the perceived dangers of genetically modified foods. There she also presented three original paintings titled, “King of the Future,” “Crazy Fruit,” and “Modification”. The same year she also showed her artwork at the Vintuition Gallery.
In 2015 Iwona exhibit her artwork at The Fourth Annual Talent Competition hosted by F.A.M.E at the Merit School of Music in Chicago.
In 2016 she held a solo exhibition in Terra Sounds of Music & Art accompanied by a piano concert by Soowon Seo in Glenview IL. A few months later at charity event "We Care We Share" at Artspace 8 gallery, Iwona auctioned off her artwork "Road to inner-self". Proceeds benefiting three children's charities: Larabida, Have Dreams and The Superheroes Collective.
In 2017 she held the solo exhibition "We are the Universe" at City Epicurean in Chicago IL. A few months later she participated in an exhibition at Polish Museum of America in Chicago IL. The exposition supported the Art for Heart Foundation that helps children with disabilities receive the medical treatment that they urgently need. Most recently she was chosen to join in an exhibition at Bucktown Gallery in Chicago where she displayed two art pieces: “The Vine of Souls” and “The Spirit of Hawk”. In January 2018 she was selected to be a part of 9th Annual Exhibit “Rendezvous with Art” at the Korean Culture Center located at Wheeling IL. A few months later she showcases her artwork at 5th Annual Culture Bridge Kulturbruecke at Sharpenberg Art Gallery in Chicago IL. The same year in March she exhibited her artwork at 81st Annual Exhibition of Painting and Sculpture at Polish Museum of America in Chicago IL. In May 2018 she contributed in an exhibition "From the Real to the Surreal" at Fulton Market Collective in Chicago IL. Most recently she again showcases her art at Korean Cultural Center in Wheeling IL.
Iwona’s painting style is eclectic; some works are Abstract, Neo-Expressionist, others Impressionistic or spiritual. Almost all her artwork is characterized by richly textured surfaces which evoke the dynamic of the unfettered motion, color sensations and light. Paintings also encompass a wide range of mixed media: oil, acrylic, molding paste etc. which she synthesizes and connects into a nice harmonic composition to create artwork that elicits emotion in the recipient. She draws her inspiration from various visual stimuli ( what she comes across in nature, sees on the internet, recalls from a dream or vision from meditation), in addition to assimilating the techniques of the great painters of the past, namely Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, and two of the modern well-known artist, principal representatives of fantastic realism, Wojciech Siudmak and visionary artist Alex Grey.
